No Progress Made After Long Meeting - Unemployment Negotiations Update - Thursday, August 6th

By UnemploymentPUA.com Staff, Thursday, August 6th, 2020

As previously reported, Democratic Leaders and White House officials met to negotiate the enhanced unemployment benefits extension tonight at 5:00PM EST.

It was a long meeting, over 3 hours, but both parties failed to achieve progress in the negotiations. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi referred to the meeting as "consequential", however both sides are still far a part on most of the major issues and there is no clear plan on how to move forward.

Both parties stated they will figure out tomorrow what the next steps will be. It is possible that if no agreement is made, President Trump will attempt an executive order to extend benefits using unspent money from the CARES act.

We will keep posting updates from the negotiations so check back often!
