Employment Workshops ALL ACCESS FAQ - UnemploymentPUA.com Career Center

Below you will find frequently asked questions about the Employment Workshops ALL ACCESS package.

What is the "Employment Workshops ALL ACCESS" program?

Federal and state laws mandate that you continue to search for work in order to be eligible for unemployment insurance benefits. The "Employment Workshops ALL ACCESS" program is a special program specifically designed for those receiving unemployment benefits, to improve your work searching skills while satisfying work search requirements.

What will happen if I do not make efforts to find work?

If the state determines that your efforts to find work were inadequate, you may be disqualified from the unemployment insurance program. Payments for weeks in which you did not search for work could be deemed an overpayment and you'd have to pay it back with penalties, fines, and interest.

Aren't work search requirements waived during COVID-19?

Many states waived the work search requirement because of COVID-19. Other states did not officially waive them, but have not enforced them. However, as the economy begins to re-open, states are reinstating those requirements and may start enforcing them more strictly.

How do the workshops help with work search requirements?

Our workshops have been specifically designed to count as a "work search activity." All workshops build and improve job hunting skills, and as such would be considered part of your efforts to enter back into the workforce. Workshop topics include Resume Building, Job Interview Skills, Job Searching Techniques, and improving other job search related traits that can help you find a good job and a better salary. Because of COVID-19, many states are now updating their lists of accepted work search activities to add these types of virtual activities.

Can I just do the workshops and nothing else?

It is recommended you combine the workshops with other work search activities such as applying for jobs. Some states may have specific requirements such as a minimum number of work search activities or a certain number of jobs you have to apply for each week. Either way, participating in the workshops, in addition to the other work search activities will demonstrate that you are serious about your work search efforts and help avoid having to pay back the unemployment benefits due to inadequate work search.

How many workshops can I do in a day?

You can do as many workshops as you want and have time to. However, many states require that you spread out your weekly work search activities over several days, so if you are doing these to fulfill work search requirements, we recommend doing no more than one workshop each day.

What does the "Employment Workshops ALL ACCESS" include?
